July 4 God Bless America
As previously announced, in honor of the 250th Anniversary of the United States of America, we invite you to come to church 15 minutes early this coming weekend for a prelude of patriotic music, a brief 90-second video and special prayer celebrating our great country.
Prayer for our Country
O Sacred Heart of Jesus, King of Heaven and Earth,
I place my nation, the United States of America,
Into your Heart pierced for love of us.
On the 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence,
I acknowledge that true liberty is Your gift,
And that our lasting homeland is the eternal Kingdom of God.
Under the mantle of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas,
And through the intercession of Her Immaculate Heart,
Bless our homeland anew,
Purify her from sin,
And guide her leaders in truth, justice, and peace,
So that she may safeguard all human life,
Respect the integrity of marriage and the family,
And honor the practice of religion.
Reign in my home and my nation.
Draw every heart into communion with You.
That Your truth, love, justice, mercy, and peace may triumph
In America and throughout the world.
Amen.
Looking Ahead to the Coming Week
This coming week, we have two beloved saints to celebrate at the 8:00am Masses:
Monday, July 6, is the feast day of St. Maria Goretti, a young Italian virgin who died at the age of 11 after defending her purity. She is known for her unwavering faith, courage, and forgiveness.
On Saturday, July 11, we celebrate the feast day of St. Benedict, Abbot. Born into a wealthy family, he quickly became disillusioned by the prevalent immorality and disorder in Rome. At the age of 20, he became known for performing miracles but he sought only holiness and moved into a cave for years, praying to end temptations common to most men.
I hope to see you at Mass, which is celebrated each day, Monday through Saturday, at 8:00 a.m.
