This Week Is Holy Week
We begin Holy Week this Sunday with Palm Sunday. The Mass times are as usual. Please plan to wear something “Red” to Mass to help emphasize the solemnity of the Palm Sunday Mass.
I invite you to partake in the Holy Week liturgies, which begin on Holy Thursday. There is no morning Mass that day. The only Mass begins at 7:00 p.m. when we remember and celebrate Jesus washing the feet of the apostles, as well as the first Eucharist at the “Last Supper.” On this night, there will be Eucharistic Adoration from after the Mass until 6:00 a.m. on the morning of Good Friday.
There is no 8:00 a.m. Mass on Good Friday. Our Good Friday Service will begin at 1:00 p.m. The Church will be closed and locked following the Good Friday liturgy.
There is no 8:00 a.m. Mass on Holy Saturday. There will be the blessing of Easter Foods at Noon, and the Church will remain closed until 7:00 p.m. in preparation for the 8:00 p.m.
Easter Vigil. Easter Sunday Masses will be at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m.
Thank You, Fr. Kubicki,
For Leading Our Parish Mission
We were pleased to welcome Fr. Jim Kubicki, SJ, to lead our Parish Mission, “Our Baptismal Call to be Priests, Prophets, and Kings.” Despite the snowstorm that postponed Monday’s presentation, Fr. Kubicki led us on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, and he enjoyed meeting so many of our parishioners and guests during the Reception on Wednesday.
40 Days of Lent
Each week during Lent, our parish has celebrated a different theme designed to help your journey through the 40 days of Lent with intention, reflection, and spiritual renewal. The theme of the sixth and final week is Sacrifice and Love. We should reflect on Christ’s passion and resurrection. We should meditate on Jesus’ sacrifice and the hope of Easter. We are encouraged to attend Holy Week services or set aside extra time for prayer and reflection. The scripture suggestion is John 15:13, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”
There is one final Stations of the Cross on Wednesday, April 1, at 6:00 p.m., and one additional parish Fish Fry Dinner on Good Friday, April 3, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Gym.
