Weekly Themes During Lent
Each week during Lent, our parish will celebrate a different theme designed to help you journey through the 40 days of Lent with intention, reflection, and spiritual renewal. The theme of the third week is Compassion and Service. We should try to see Christ in others, pray for those in need, and ask for a servant’s heart. We are encouraged to perform one intentional act of kindness each day. And the scripture suggestion is Matthew 25:40, “Whatever you did for one of the least of these...you did for me.”

Six-Week Lenten Drive to Help the Less Fortunate
Parishioners are asked to support our school chapter of the National Junior Honor Society by donating various items during Lent.
Only NEW products can be accepted, and they are collecting for both children and adults. You may bring your donations to the Church and leave them in the marked boxes in the Narthex or bring them to the parish office during the work week. The products collected will change each week. Please see the flyer below.
Thank you for your generosity. Items will be given to Robyn’s Nest, Kathy’s House, and the Milwaukee Diaper Mission.
The St. John’s Chapter of the Holy Name Society will gather for Corporate Communion at the 8:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday, March 8. The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 a.m. The Scouts and their families will be their guests. A breakfast will follow in the Church Hall. All men of the Parish (and their sons) are invited to join the Holy Name Society.
The Christian Women Society will be gathering on Thursday, March 12 in the Church Hall at 4:00 p.m. for a baked potato bar meal. Ladies are asked to bring their almsgivings items to donate to the Benedict Center, the provider of our guest speaker for the evening.
STEM Challenge Day
Twelve of our 7th-grade students had the exciting opportunity to participate in STEM Challenge Day at Catholic Memorial High School. Students worked collaboratively in teams to solve a hands-on engineering and problem-solving challenge. This year, the students were challenged to build a rocket that could be accurately launched at a target. They were evaluated on the rocket's accuracy, the design process, and the rocket's weight. Our students represented our school with enthusiasm and teamwork.
Our students embraced the challenge, supported one another, and persevered to complete the task. Our teams did not finish in the top three, but all of our students showed their creativity and critical thinking skills and had fun!

This Saturday, March 7, our Confirmandi (Confirmation Candidates) will embark on a spiritual retreat as they prepare to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation on Wednesday, May 13. Please keep them, their sponsors, and their catechists in your prayers during this important time of preparation.
Women’s Silent Retreat

Pope Leo XIV’s Prayer Intention
for the Month of March
In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus says, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” This month, Pope Leo XIV invites us to pray for peace and effective nuclear disarmament, urging leaders to choose dialogue over violence. Sunday, March 1, 2026 | Second Sunday of Lent| Matthew 17:1–9
Friends, today’s Gospel celebrates the Transfiguration.
Christ came not just to make us nice people or morally upright folks, but rather to give us a share in his divine life, to make us denizens of heaven, people capable of living in that new environment.
What gave the first Christians this conviction? The answer is the Resurrection—and the great anticipation of the Resurrection, which is the Transfiguration. This ordinary Jesus somehow became transformed, elevated, and enhanced in his manner of being.
The first thing we notice is that his appearance becomes more beautiful. These somewhat grubby bodies of ours are destined for a transfigured, elevated beauty.
Secondly, in his transfigured state, Jesus transcends space and time as he speaks with Moses and Elijah. In this world, we are caught in one moment of space and time, but in heaven, we will live in the eternal now of God’s life.
Have you ever noticed that even as we appreciate all that is wonderful about this life, we are never really at home? There is a permanent restlessness about human life. But a higher, richer, more beautiful, and spiritually fulfilling life awaits us.
