Parishioner News
We welcome the following family and individuals who have joined our parish: Priciliano & Nicole Saavedra and their sons, Damian & Sebastian, and Judith Zielke.
We celebrate the child who has recently been baptized: Henry Peter Cannistra.
And we mourn those who have died recently: Moises Nazario, Brian Kalupa, Larry Larson, and Fern Felski.
New Eagle Scouts
This past Sunday, Boy Scout Troop 601 celebrated four new Eagle Scouts, two of whom are from our parish: Tyler Jambor and Greg Popowycz. They were recognized and celebrated for their years of involvement with the Scouts. To become an Eagle Scout, one requirement is to select an approved project and help organize and implement it. For his project, Tyler chose to refurbish the School Garden, rebuilding new garden boxes that had been decomposing over the past 10 years of use. Greg chose to build park benches for one of the local parks. We congratulate them both on their years of scouting and their many accomplishments.
Many parents take part in the scouts and help make it the success that it is. I do want to recognize a parishioner and parent who takes a very active role in the scouts program: Tyler’s Dad, Steve Jambor.
Weekly Themes During Lent
Each week during Lent, our parish will celebrate a different theme designed to help you journey through the 40 days of Lent with intention, reflection, and spiritual renewal. The theme of the first week was “Repentance and Renewal, Turning Back to God with a Sincere Heart.” We were encouraged to begin each day with a short prayer of surrender and end with a gratitude list. The suggested Scripture reading for Week One was Psalm 51:10, “Create in me a clean heart, O God.” Now that we are beginning our second week, the theme is “Humility and Trust, Letting go of Pride and Control.”
In the coming week, we are asked to invite God to guide our decisions and soften our hearts. Spend five to ten minutes each day in silent prayer, simply listening with our hearts. The Scripture suggested for Week Two is Proverbs 3:5, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart.”
