Day of Reconciliation, Reparation, and Fasting: Wednesday, April 9
Archbishop Jeffrey Grob is asking the Catholic faithful to observe a Day of Reconciliation, Reparation, and Fasting during the season of Lent this Jubilee year. Reconciliation will be held at 11 host parishes, offering 12 continuous hours of the Sacrament of Reconciliation. St. Matthias Parish on 92nd and Beloit Road will be the host parish in our deanery. There will be six priests available to hear Confessions between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Catholics throughout the Archdiocese are invited to fast and make small acts of reparation by reflecting on where we, individually and as a society, have failed to be signs of hope to others, especially the most vulnerable.
Water Project Update and Thank You
Sr. Jan Gregorcich recently wrote that she received the results of last Fall’s Mission Appeal, $11,764. Again, over the top! “Thank you for your sacrifice and generosity. Global Partners: Running Waters is very grateful to be able to continue the mission of building relationships through collaboration on water, food, health, and education projects in Latin America, and especially in Guatemala. On April 1, they returned to Guatemala for the inauguration of two water projects. Many thanks for your efforts and generosity. March 22 was World Water Day. Let us be grateful to God for the gift of water.”
Lenten Blessings—Sr. Jan
Divine Mercy Sunday
In addition to the nine-day Novena to The Divine Mercy, which Our Lord gave to St. Maria Faustina, He revealed to her a powerful prayer that He wanted everyone to pray, The Chaplet of Divine Mercy. The Chaplet can be said anytime, but the Lord specifically asked that it be recited as a Novena, especially on the nine days before the Feast of Mercy, starting Good Friday, April 18, until Divine Mercy Sunday, promising Extraordinary graces to those who would recite this special prayer. As the church celebrates Divine Mercy Sunday on April 26 & 27, all are invited to join us as the Divine Mercy Chaplet will be recited in church after ALL Masses that weekend. The Novena/Chaplet will also be recited after the Daily Masses from Monday, April 21, through Saturday, April 25. All are invited to participate.
