Parish Council Meeting Summary
The St. John’s Parish Council met on Monday, September 19, with guest School Principal Ben Oberdorf. He reported that the school enrollment is up to 161 students. The school has met or exceeded most accreditation benchmarks, and wrote goals to improve any areas below benchmarks. The school is now fully accredited after reviewing goals, and he is working on forming Professional Learning Committees (PLCs). As far as school staffing, Ben reported that all teachers K4-8 have returned this year, and a new Resource Teacher and K5 Aide have been hired. Improved Smart Boards, Chromebooks, and Connectivity have all been upgraded and funded through COVID-relief bills. Field trips and all athletics have now returned.
- Trustee Wally Allan reported on the Love One Another Campaign. Out of the $737,400 pledged, the Church has received $199,033 and paid out $141,656 for playground, sprinkler/fire alarm and tuck-pointing projects.
- Chris Wichgers reported on upcoming school events, including the Fun Run and Tailgate Party, Trunk or Treat, Grandparents’ Day, the Coffee Drive-thru, and High School Information Night at St. Matthias.
- Dale Feuling reported that Ken Krueger will be doing his Finance presentation in the very near future.
- Giulio Leonardelli reported on Building and Grounds projects. Tom Rosina and volunteers will paint the downspouts on the fieldhouse, church and school buildings. The new fire alarm system has been installed, approved and is up and running. All carpeting in school classrooms will be replaced with tile between the end of the school year and the beginning of our parish festival. More equipment is planned for the playground through donations.
- Tony Adams reported on the Men’s group, the Respect Life group, Holy Hour, Evangelization, and Catholic Vote.
- Gary Tveten reported that we have reached 58 percent of the Catholic Stewardship Fund parish goal. The percent of donors in the parish is about 20 percent.
The next meeting of the Parish Council was set for November 14, 2022, at 6:00pm. A closing prayer was said.
2022 Catholic Stewardship Appeal
This year, St. John’s goal for the 2022 Archdiocesan Catholic Stewardship Appeal is $65,500. To date, we have raised 58.3 percent of the goal or $38,189. Please prayerfully consider making a financial donation to this worthy cause, supporting and running of the Archdiocese and its many ministries. On behalf of those who benefit from your generosity, I say thank you.
A Sincere Thank You
